Reflection on camtasia

The uses of technology in education system create effective teaching for teachers and enhance student’s learning. Camtasia is software used by everyone to create or develop video tutorial for their lesson. Before I joined to this college, I have no idea about how to use Camtasia studio but in ICT module our tutor taught us how to used Camtasia studio and produce video ourselves. So I felt very lucky as I got opportunity to learn and explore with Camtasia studio which is very helpful especially for teachers.

Camtasia Studio is software which allows us to create presentations and easily able to record software applications, PowerPoint presentations, and Web camera videos. We can also use the editor to edit the recording and enhance for emphasis. Share crystal-clear videos at any screen size…on Web pages, blogs, CDs, or portable devices like the iPod. I found that Camtasia software is very useful and every teacher should know how to use Camtasia as it will help in the teaching and learning process. We all know that every child possesses different learning styles and ability. Some children learn through using graphics, some may learn through visual representation and some may learn better by watching videos.

In ICT module, our tutor assigned us with ten minutes video tutorial whereby our module tutor gave us the topic. I was given topic on skip counting for class I (mathematics subject). I was anxious about how to go about creating a Video tutorial and was bit worried as well. Then I tried to record in laptop using those features learnt in the classroom and it was quite impressive as all I need to have is a power point presentation on skip counting. As Camtasia, gives an opportunity for me to record the screen whereby I can record my presentation while I am presenting on the slides. After recording the presentation in the Camtasia Recorder, the Camtasia components can be used to modify audio and video displayed as tracks by using the timeline control and object library interface with an integrated preview window. It also allows us to add captions.

Camtasia is one of the software that is used to edit videos and publish the video. It contains different features which help us to modify our video clips to make it more effective, beautiful and attractive.First, we can just record short clips and join the small scenes together using Camtasia to form a full movie. As a future teacher; I can use this concept in the teaching and learning context as teaching-learning materials. Moreover, using videos can also do away with the monotonous classroom teaching and be motivated in learning

Reflection on Google Classroom

In today’s world, the usage of technology in the classroom has created the change in system of education. The use of technology in education has made learning very accessible. It has a very positive influence on student’s learning capabilities as well as on teacher’s style of teaching. The integration of technology in classroom enable students to take responsible for their own learning by searching or gathering information through internet where they need not to dependent only on teachers and no need to waste their precious time.

In our ICT class, I have learnt to create Google classroom as to make the teaching and learning more effective. Google classroom is kind of strategy used by teachers to create an online classroom area in which they can manage all the documents that their student’s need. It is a powerful tool to help learner access vast knowledge resources. It also helps to motivate our learners to learn using the technology which saves their time, makes their works faster and easier.

Google classroom is an additional tool which will make teaching more productive, collaborative, and meaningful and most probably it is a tool where teacher can be applying in teaching. Students can access goggle classroom from any where there is an internet connection. Students need not to rush for the class to attend the session and moreover they need not to carry bagful of books which are very difficult for the students as well as harmful for their health. I found Google classroom is useful especially for the teachers and the students. With the goggle classroom we can work anywhere, anytime and on any device with access to internet.

In Google classroom teacher can assigned class work or assignment, course materials and also able to assess student’s work and provide feedbacks. Not only teachers, Students can also share their doubt through discussion forum created by the teachers in Google classroom. So, I can state that goggle classroom is one of the important additional tools in teaching and learning where it helps teacher to achieve the objectives of the lesson effectively by making the learner work on their own.

Reflection on use of social media

In modern life, social media is developing fast. It is used by many people all over the world. Through social media, many people do their work online and made people convenient and fast to communicate with others people around the world. If we use social media in proper way then it will help us to improve our social skills and provide us interesting information where it leads to expand our knowledge. There are many different kinds of social media, and they are used in many different ways.

Before in our country, there is no such social media to communicate and get information instead people use letter to communicate and provide information where many people did not get information on time. Nowadays with the development of our country we enjoy different types of social media like facebook, wechat, Instagram, Twitter and youtube etc…which help us to express our view and make easy to connect people around the world.

When I was in grade twelve, my parent brought me cell phone and with the help from my brother I created facebook account where I explored digital world. Through facebook I can able to connect with my friends at different place and also provide news which keep us updated from things happening around the globe. After reaching at college I used wechat to connect with my parents and relatives. Though we are far away from each other, with the help of wechat and their features called video calling help me to see their face.

Every advantage has a disadvantage, though social media provide us many opportunities in our life if we don’t use properly it will create many problems in the society. When we get freedom to use social media it is our own duty to use properly. Social media has become a part and parcel of everyone’s life.

Use of Power Point Presentation

In past, teacher used chalk and talk method to teach students in the class. Every time students has to rely on teachers as teachers are considered as main source for the information. During that time, both the teachers and students had hard time in teaching and learning. Development of country leads to improve the living style of the people where many people used technology to make their living easier and comfortable. The use of ICT in education adds value to teaching and learning, by enhancing the effectiveness of learning.

In many school teacher use technology as better teaching techniques and tool to improve student’s learning. With the advancement of technology, students need not to depend on teachers for the information but they can explore themselves and get the information. With the introduction of ICT in education, help teachers to create interactive classes and make the lesson more enjoyable, which could improve students’ attendance and concentration.

After arriving to this college, I learnd how to make PowerPoint presentation which is very important for the teachers. In first semester, there is module called functional information technology (FIT) where our tutor taught us basic usage of technology and it was the assignment of FIT (preparing PowerPoint Presentation) that gave insight of the PowerPoint presentation. Power Point presentation help me to shortened the lengthy statement as one of the criteria for designing power Point presentation is  write key point or main idea of entire topic.

In college, every module has to do with making presentation with the use of PowerPoint as a major assignment. PowerPoint presentations allow us to use images, audio and video to have a greater visual impact. These visual and audio cues help me to be more interactive with the audience. Microsoft Power point provides numerous features which can be used in order to improve our presentation skills. One of the most important benefits that we get from using PowerPoint program as a presentation tool is that we can create and modify slide whenever we want.

Nine elements of Digital Citizenship

Living in this digital age, there are a lot of things that one should know about navigating the complex world of digital material. Just like in the real world, there are nine listed elements that define what it is to be a responsible digital citizen so that we can all be safe and make great choices when using technology. Digital citizenship skills include making wise choices and treating others respectfully in an online space. The nine elements of digital citizenship are digital etiquette, law, access, communication, literacy, Commerce, rights and responsibilities, safety and security and health and wellness.

The set of rule that we should follow when we interact with other in online is called digital etiquette. Digital etiquette mainly talks about appropriate and inappropriate ways to behave and treat one another. In order to keep things in the real world flowing smoothly, there must be laws in place, the same goes for technology use. It involves using technology and online resources appropriately and ethically. Let make our student aware about importance of producing their own work and have to give credit those they are sourcing.

Capability to use technology and knowing when to use and how to use is all about digital literacy. We should teach students about the consequences of posting an inappropriate picture on the web, accessing illegitimate websites, and sharing private information online. Students are given equal opportunity to technology where they can able to easily connect with their parents and friends. Teaching a child safety and security on the internet can also lead to an opportunity to teach them responsibility for objects. We should teach students about setting password to protect their personal information while using technology.

Technology is meant to be used to improve lives. However, the way people use (or abuse) technology poses serious issues.It is important to teach students about digital health and wellness. It includes physical and psychological wellbeing of every student. They should take care of their posture and usage of the keyboards while using computers. Therefore, it’s important for all the technology users to be aware of how to best maintain and protect our own identity safely.

Basic level of technology integration

Scenario A
I put scenario A as middle level of ICT integration because in scenario A, teacher ask her student to search information about the causes, prevention and treatment of diabetes. In this case technology has a very important role, providing students to access the information and design the activities.not only, had the information from Internet helped teacher enhance in teaching instruction about lessons but teacher needs to use technology purposefully to provide support key points during lesson.

Scenario B
I considered scenario B as high level of ICT integration because technology is used by the students to help them through a variety of important learning processes. In this case, both the teacher and students take active part to solve the problem which they face in their learning.technology allows student to make links among member of content areas and it develops thinking and creativity skills.teacher used technology to promote students learning by challenging them with complex and authentic tasks,worked in a collaboration to support their inquiry and investigation process.

Scenario C
Scenario C is basic level of ICT integration because teacher use technology to make work more effective by letting students to submit their completed worksheets through e-mail.Teacher thought that it is easy to collect worksheet through e-mail rather than collecting hard copy.Teacher thinks that teaching using technology is more effective than not using technology.

By looking at all three scenarios, it made me think how import one has to have knowledge on ICT. if we integrate ICT in teaching and learning , there are many advantages for both students and teachers. with regard to teachers, it will reduce their workload whereby they can just upload the information in the VLE and all. And for students, if there is an integration of ICT in teaching, then they will be able to understand the difficult concept. so, i find ICT is must in this twenty first century, because we know that teaching and learning is not happen only in the classroom but teaching and learning take place everywhere. Being a future teacher we must be aware of using the different gadgets.

Use of information and communication technology (ICT) in classroom.

Information and communication technology (ICT) has become crucial role in 21st century. ICT has a huge range of functions in education such as communication, learning tools, information sources. Using ICT in the teaching-learning process lets the students expose more to the world and can explain the abstract ideas concretely. Through ICTs the student will be updated about the news of the world and will aware of the issue. Therefore, the teacher in-service and pre-service should be skilled enough to make the students competent and skilled enough to live in the advancing world.

As a teacher it is not enough to have good idea about ICT skill but should be able to include ICT in their teaching to enhance the children's learning.when we were student, our teacher do not used ICT they simply lecture and we face problem in understanding the concept but nowadays teacher use video, pictures to explain the concept and make it more practical where students do not face any problems in expressing their understanding of the concept. ICT gives greater assistance in the way students learn and teachers teaching.

Before I join this college I had limited idea about the purpose/use of ICT but after joining this college i came to know that we should use ICT as part for our own learning. We used ICT to prepare power point presentation and we also used virtual learning environment (VLE) to cater or access information on different modules. with the help of ICT, it guides us to accomplish our works and tasks immediately and effectively. ICT provides opportunities in enhancing our knowledge and capacity by learning.

During first semester we had module called Foundation of Information and Technology (FIT) where we learnt about basic idea on the effective use of ICT in our day to day life. I also learnt the basic knowledge of ICT such as, preparing power point presentation ( add some animation of the text and images in the slides, font size and color combination), how to access information and also to prepare progress report card for the students. so i think ICT plays an important role in 21st century learning.
